Bachelor of Professional Writing & Editing

To continue making the best films I can
To continue meeting people and making friends
To continue to learn all I can
To continue having fun

I look up to people who are just little bit outside the norm, who are not afraid to push boundaries, who have something to say and do it with style.

* So to be more specific, the early work of Robert Rodriguez is a favourite, back in the days when he was the 'Rebel Without a Crew'
* Listing Quentin Tarantino is a cliché I know, but the man makes quality films and is ultra inventive.
* Lloyd Kaufman is cheap and nasty but he churns films out that shouldn't work but somehow do. He has carved out his own niche and I admire that.
* And Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Nothing is as smart, sharp, and wickedly funny as South Park.

Nexus Production Group. It's who I am and what I do and our website – www.npgroup.com.au – will tell you everything you need to know about me professionally.

However, on a more personal level, well, let’s see ... 2006 was the year I began this love affair with film. Together with a couple of friends I helped make a feature film. We had no money, no equipment, and no idea what we were doing, really, but we had plenty of enthusiasm. Of course, the film didn't turn out any good, but it was the experience that mattered, the fun we had and the lessons we learned, and the friends we made who are still with us to this day.

In fact, that is probably the main reason I keep doing this. The people. I've lost track of how many short films I've been a part of now, everything from my own to VCA films to Tropfest finalists. I've tried my hand at television production through RMITV, organised film festivals (www.mim.org.au), and rolled with the big wigs through NPG.

And always the most rewarding part is the people met along the way. Film is gregarious by nature and it fascinates me how so many people from so many backgrounds come together to share this common passion. And if that sounds sappy, well, put on some Bee Gees and turn the station to the Disney Channel, I just can't help it.

And neither can I stop making films ...

Your citing of Rodriguez is appreciated; I dig Planet Terror much more than Death Proof (probably due to how many of the films I've seen that were the inspiration for P.T.).

It's also good to see someone with clips like yours with a well-designed site to exhibit your talents.

I'd be curious to see what you would do, RE animation, going almost purely "old-school"...

best regards,

EDP

dude: thanks for accepting my request for friendship.

Do you like Team America? It says that you like Matt Stone and Trey Parker. I saw orgasmo. I personally think it's awful but my friend insisted that we watch it.

Hey bro,

Good stuff :) Good to see that you're keeping busy and being pro-active! I'm doing alright, just jumping from audition to audition and sharpening my skills. Can't afford to rest in this industry! Yeah man, I'm also terrible at organising these things.. we should get one of the girls to take charge, they seem to be good at that stuff ;) Either way, i'll see ya at the next westside shorts gathering..!

Nah bro, Heath hasn't contacted me. I recall him offering me a role in a short film a few months back but havn't heard from him since.. You reckon it's still on?

Anyway, speak soon and keep me posted regarding MIM shorts, looks ace!

Doing well, brutha.  Planning some new projects for the Summer, starting a film festival, and, of course, editing Ordinary.

How you doing, man?

Yeah, we should catch up soon, or have a big cast reunion, but I'm too lazy, lol!  Anyway, you can always find me at West Side Shorts ...

Sweet,

~ Ivan.

(P.S. Has Heath asked you about starring in his short film yet?)

hey man, thanks for the add. i initially came to this site from a forum ad on filmnet. "seeking enthusiastic and motivated cast and crew".. which led me here, in pursuit of details on how to apply. I take it the details are yet to come.. but whatever.

I'm liking your gallery, btw. looks like a good repertoire.
