However, on a more personal level, well, let’s see ... 2006 was the year I began this love affair with film. Together with a couple of friends I helped make a feature film. We had no money, no equipment, and no idea what we were doing, really, but we had plenty of enthusiasm. Of course, the film didn't turn out any good, but it was the experience that mattered, the fun we had and the lessons we learned, and the friends we made who are still with us to this day.
In fact, that is probably the main reason I keep doing this. The people. I've lost track of how many short films I've been a part of now, everything from my own to VCA films to Tropfest finalists. I've tried my hand at television production through RMITV, organised film festivals (
www.mim.org.au), and rolled with the big wigs through NPG.
And always the most rewarding part is the people met along the way. Film is gregarious by nature and it fascinates me how so many people from so many backgrounds come together to share this common passion. And if that sounds sappy, well, put on some Bee Gees and turn the station to the Disney Channel, I just can't help it.
And neither can I stop making films ...
