MyProductionPortal Diary 3
Posted On 02/18/2009 01:13:44

This diary entry is a bit of a quickie, to let members know that the new menu system is up and going. If people are finding it confusing, please let me know and I will re-organise the layout. Also I have added 'status and mood' entries to the profile which can be entered via the 'member account' section. Another aspect of the MyProductionPortal interface I am considering overhauling is the ‘instant messenger’ and ‘live chat’ sections, to include web cams and audio. This will allow members the ability to use web cams to chat live and conduct group meetings, without having to worry about how quick they can type.

MyProductionPortal Diary 2
Posted On 02/15/2009 13:30:56

It has been a few days since my last MyProductionPortal diary entry. Since then I have heard a number of good suggestions from members that I will look into implementing. In the meantime I have added a couple of new features that I believe users will find informative and useful. Firstly I have added a much needed member news section ‘dig news’ in addition to the RSS News feed section I added recently. The beauty of ‘dig news’ is that it allows the user to create RSS active and SEO optimized news releases. As these news items are RSS compliant and SEO optimized, people can subscribe to them and they will readily appear when searching for them in google and other search engines.

‘Dig news’ can be accessed from the home page of the MyProudctionPortal site and the ‘dig news’ menu option.

Another improvement (which should be available shortly), is a completely new menu system similar to the menu system found in most software used these days. This menu system should allow the user to navigate the site more efficiently and find sections not immediately obvious. This is especially critical for new users who may initially find themselves a little disoriented when using the site.

Thanks again to all for the feedback and please keep the suggestions coming.

MyProductionPortal Diary - 1
Posted On 02/10/2009 14:26:33

Now that the site has gone BETA and is being tested publicly, I thought I would take some time to update people on the progress, hopes and issues encountered with developing and fine-tuning MyProductionPortal. Firstly I would like to thank those who have taken time out form their often busy schedules to register and give me feedback regarding the site. I would also like to thank those of you who have spoken openly about the site and encouraged others to join. This site is being developed to help the film / creative arts industry and community. It is free and will always remain free and the more input people provide, the better we can make the site. I have spent quite a bit of time on trying to make the site clear to navigate and user friendly, however I am always open to ideas on how to improve it further. Shortly I will be releasing a series of instructional videos on how to set up an account, navigate the site and effectively utilise the tools that are available.

There is a lot that is already available to members on MyProductionPortal, from video to blogs to managing production projects, to networking, to promoting their business. All within the one interface. However I will not stop there. I will continue to add useful features as they are requested to try and give the members of the site the experience they desire from a site of this nature. For example, I will be shortly introducing skype for those who prefer to communicate with VOI. This will be an inexpensive way to conduct production meetings or to catch up or network with other members....

Anyway in the meantime please feel free to create your own blogs.
